Pocklington School is a fully Independent Co-educational School with representation on the Headmasters' Conference and membership of the Governing Bodies' Association.
In recent years about 90% of the Sixth Form leavers have gone on to universities for degree courses in a wide range of subjects, including a number to Oxford and Cambridge. It is one of the oldest schools in Yorkshire, set in a thriving Market Town in the East Riding.
The School has a particular reputation in: Art and Design, pupils having won National Awards over a number of years, including the BBC's Young Scientist of the Year Award; for sport (the School has extensive sporting facilities including swimming pool, Sports Hall and lawn tennis courts), and for Music and Drama.
The School strongly espouses the sense of community both within the School and in the area. It runs a 'Talking Newspaper for the Blind' and Sixth Formers help at the local Junior School, in Homes for the Elderly, in local conservation projects and on the Town's Civic Society.
Boarders come from all parts of the world and many are from Service families.
There are frequent buses from York and through buses to Driffield, Bridlington, Beverley, Cottingham, Hull and Manton which cater for Day pupils.
The Junior School (age range 7-11) is equipped with full facilities for 145 boys and girls.
Alumni - Well known Old Boys include: William Wilberforce; Tom Stoppard, Adrian Edmondson. There is a thriving Old Pocklington Club with regular reunions.
